The Sierra Nevada ski resort is entering a crucial phase to consolidate its modernization, with the 2030 Strategic Plan awaiting the management of the next Andalusian executive.

The Sierra Nevada ski resort, located in Granada, is at a pivotal moment in its development, with the 2030 Strategic Plan partially executed and the expectation that the new Andalusian Government will drive its completion in the next four years.

The upcoming elections in Andalusia, scheduled for May 17, coincide with a period of profound renovation for Sierra Nevada. Following the approval of its strategic plan in 2022, the resort aims to consolidate its modernization, a process that will be the responsibility of the regional executive elected.
During the last legislature, the Junta de Andalucía has prioritized the Granada resort as a key economic pillar, investing in its modernization. In late 2022, the Sierra Nevada 2030 Strategic Plan was approved, a roadmap to renovate both the slopes and the Pradollano urbanization. This plan has driven the renovation of ski lifts, the improvement of the snowmaking system, and the arrival of new hotels, updating the area's image.
Thanks to these improvements, interest in Sierra Nevada has grown significantly, attracting more visitors, both skiers and non-skiers. Activities such as those offered at Mirlo Blanco have contributed to this increase, also favored by a winter season with abundant snow, despite occasional closures due to adverse weather conditions.
The new Andalusian Government will face the challenge of completing this ambitious renovation, which includes replacing eight ski lifts, adding new hotel beds, and implementing a new urban mechanical transport system. These actions, with an approximate investment of 150 million euros, aim to improve mobility and the overall experience at the resort.
Among the most prominent projects is the replacement of the Parador chairlift with a faster, higher-capacity gondola, which will connect the entire residential complex of Pradollano. Also pending is the comprehensive renovation of the Mirlo Blanco recreational area, with the projection of new attractions for families and the development of accommodation and leisure facilities in the adjacent Sulayr plot.
Furthermore, the next executive will be responsible for inaugurating the renovated A-395 road, the main access to Sierra Nevada. Works on this road, which began in late 2025 with an investment of 19 million euros, aim to modernize the route and stabilize the slopes. These improvements are crucial for the safety and accessibility of the resort, especially after the landslides that occurred in January 2023.
The Popular Party has been the only political formation to include Sierra Nevada in its electoral promises. A party representative in Granada has announced that they will promote studies for the construction of a new underground car park, aiming to increase parking capacity in the lower area of the resort by between 500 and 1,100 spaces, in addition to two car parks in the middle areas.
