The Plaza José Fernández Torres Tomatito, known as ‘La Era’, will be the stage for this significant cultural event aimed at highlighting the singing and guitar playing of artists from Almería. The festival's presentation, by the Provincial Council and the Fondón City Council, took place in the Patio del Mandarino.
The Vice President and Deputy of Culture, Almudena Morales, emphasized the festival's tradition and prestige, stressing that flamenco does not require large stages to evoke emotion, but rather the power of art in an environment that embraces it. She highlighted flamenco as memory, identity, and a way of life, and thanked the collective effort that makes it possible, reaffirming the Almería Provincial Council's commitment.
The mayor of Fondón, Valentín Martín, detailed that the event will begin at 9:30 PM with the Sierra Nevada mountains as a backdrop. He noted that the festival's magic lies in the combination of its unique natural setting and the presence of flamenco stars, offering a special tribute to Almerian singing.
José Antonio López Alemán, the festival's organizer and driving force, emphasized the focus on local talent and new generations, expressing satisfaction in bringing together established artists and promising young talents. He called for shared responsibility in preserving and promoting flamenco, describing it as one of the most beautiful indigenous musical expressions.
Flamenco singer Rocío Segura expressed her gratitude for being included in the festival, recalling her debut in Fondón at the age of 18. She highlighted the pride of sharing the stage with icons like José Mercé and Tomatito, as well as with fellow artists from her region, in an edition that values Almerian talent.
Cristo Heredia described his return to the festival, a stage linked to his professional beginnings, as a privilege. He announced that flamenco dancer Blanca Lorente will be a guest artist, anticipating a special night of Almerian flamenco.
The lineup for this 34th edition features over 13 top-tier artists, including José Mercé (singing) and Tomatito (guitar), accompanied by Pescaíto and José Andrés Heredia on palmas. Also performing will be Rafael Amador “Chumbito”, Josean de Torres, Cristo Heredia, and the singer Rocío Segura, among others.
