The incident took place on the A-7, specifically at the entry point to the highway from the Port of Almería, heading towards Roquetas de Mar. This event forced authorities to close one of the lanes, leading to long queues of vehicles.
The traffic jams quickly extended, affecting by 9:00 AM the construction zone at the interchange between the A-7 and the A-92, near Viator and the Álvarez de Sotomayor Base of La Legión. The situation worsened, preventing access to the A-7 towards Málaga from key entry points such as Rambla Federico García Lorca and Carretera de Ronda, which also experienced traffic problems.
Various parts of the city were affected by the collapse, including the roundabout near the funeral home and the upper part of the Rambla. Traffic disruptions spread to other areas of the municipality of Almería and Huércal de Almería, such as the Cuesta de los Callejones towards Almería and the A-7 itself in the direction of Níjar, significantly complicating morning commutes.
