The VOX municipal group in the Almería City Council, led by councilor Manuela Martín, will present a motion at the upcoming Plenary Session to demand from the PP Government team the improvement of the facilities used by the El Timón Association, dedicated to mental health.
VOX's initiative aims to address the technical deficiencies and lack of privacy that currently affect the users and professionals of the El Timón Association. According to the party, these shortcomings hinder the optimal development of their functions and obstruct the individualized treatment required by users and their families.
“
"Currently, these facilities have a series of technical deficiencies that prevent users and professionals from carrying out their functions under optimal conditions of safety and functionality."
Councilor Manuela Martín emphasized the need for the City Council to conduct an urgent technical assessment of the property's condition. The goal is to identify deficits and renovation needs to subsequently implement a rehabilitation project that consolidates the space as an independent and dignified headquarters for the association.
Furthermore, VOX requests that the El Timón Association's permanence in its current location be guaranteed, ensuring that the service is provided autonomously, separate from other neighborhood activities, and in an environment of discretion and privacy essential for its users.
“
"The City Council must carry out an urgent technical assessment of the state of the facilities to identify the deficits and the renovation needs of the building."
The urgency of this proposal is based on the increase in specialized mental health consultations, which in Almería alone have risen by 35% by early 2026. Martín highlighted the vital work that the El Timón Association has carried out for over 30 years, acting as a crucial link between the mental health community and professional institutions, significantly contributing to the recovery and improvement of the quality of life for its users and their families.
