Despite having played for renowned clubs such as Real Betis, Atlético de Madrid, and Osasuna, and having defended the colors of local teams like Poli Almería and Almería CF, the psychological toll became unbearable. His retirement in 2004, after two particularly tough seasons, ended a career that began unexpectedly.

The nickname Barbero, which accompanied him throughout his career, has its roots in family tradition, inherited from his grandfather, who was a barber for the miners of Enix and much of the Poniente Almeriense.
