The wildfire that broke out in Los Gallardos, Almería, has become one of the most severe tragedies in the province's recent history. The latest provisional report from Emergencias 112 Andalucía confirms at least twelve fatalities and eight injured, four of them in very serious condition.
Several of the deceased victims were found inside vehicles that were engulfed by flames as they attempted to flee the affected area. The incident has necessitated the evacuation of approximately one thousand people.
An extensive emergency response, involving personnel from Infoca, the Military Emergencies Unit (UME), and other security and emergency corps, remains deployed in the area to control and extinguish the fire. The Regional Government of Andalusia has declared three days of official mourning for the tragedy.
