The Plenary Session of the Tabernas Town Council, chaired by Mayor José Díaz, unanimously approved the regulations for honors and distinctions, enabling formal recognition of individuals and organizations linked to the municipality.

This new document is crucial, as without it, honorary titles such as 'favorite son', 'adopted son', 'gold medal of the town', or 'medal of merit' could not be granted. The approval of these regulations marks a milestone in the municipality's ability to formally recognize the contributions of its citizens and entities.
During the same plenary session, local holidays for the year 2027 were set. The chosen dates were January 20, in honor of San Sebastián, patron saint of Tabernas, and August 13, coinciding with the Fair and Festivals in honor of the Virgen de las Angustias, also patroness of the municipality. This decision received majority support from the corporation, with the sole abstention of a councilor from the Popular Party.
Another significant point unanimously approved was the second Equality Plan of Tabernas. The Councilor for Equality and Citizen Participation, Cecilia López, emphasized that this plan is the result of a thorough diagnosis and active citizen participation, thus going beyond mere compliance with legal requirements.
Furthermore, information was provided on recent agreements signed by the Town Council, covering areas such as training, police collaboration, sponsorship of the Almería Western Film Festival, and adherence to the Andalusian Network of Public Theaters. During the questions and requests session, topics such as improved accessibility, the application of animal protection law, and the impact of La Clásica Femenina, whose finish line was in Tabernas, were addressed.
