Endesa's technical teams started early Sunday morning inspecting the distribution network in the Los Gallardos area, Almería, following the wildfire that began last Thursday. The objective is to progressively restore electricity supply to the affected residents.
The fire, estimated to have originated in the El Almocáizar neighborhood, has left some residents without electricity. Technical teams are working to resolve the issue and restore service as soon as possible, requesting "patience and understanding" from those affected.
Authorities have granted access to Endesa's teams early this morning to assess the condition of the medium-voltage infrastructure supplying the area, which had not been previously inspected due to fire-related restrictions. Seven transformer substations have been reviewed and are being energized to check their proper functioning.
The low-voltage network in the area, which may be "quite damaged by the fire," is expected to be analyzed on-site over the coming hours. Power will be restored to undamaged installations with all safety guarantees, while repairs are carried out on the affected networks.
Concurrently, checks will be performed on the medium and low-voltage networks in adjacent areas. The command post and local mayors are coordinating these efforts with Endesa to prioritize essential supplies.
Regarding the fire's origin, the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, announced that a judicial investigation has been opened. Initially, it was traced to a detached electrical cable near an abandoned restaurant in the Almocáizar district. "We will await a more detailed, thorough investigation to accurately verify the situation and the origin of the fire," stated Moreno.
