This collaboration aims to strengthen the link between the literary event and new generations, offering formats and authors that capture the interest of younger readers. The initiative seeks to bring literature closer to a diverse audience, adapting to current reading habits.
Founded in 2018, the Reader Con Association (ARC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting reading among young people. It emerged from the Reader Con event (formerly Andalucía Reader Con), establishing itself as a safe meeting place for readers and authors of the youth genre.
With extensive experience in cultural revitalization, ARC has organized complete youth programs at the Seville and Málaga Book Fairs. In Almería, this first participation is conceived as a pilot experience with two prominent activities.
The program includes an encounter with author Alba Zamora, of Crónicas de Hiraia (Molino), on Friday, April 17 at 5:30 PM, followed by a book signing. On Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 AM, there will be an encounter with María Martínez, author of Donde habitan las sirenas (Crossbook), also with a subsequent signing. Both activities will take place at the Biblioteca Villaespesa, with free admission until full capacity is reached.
“"Young people do read, and increasingly so. They just need spaces where they feel represented and where their literary interests are accommodated. Initiatives like this allow the Almería Book Fair to open up to new generations of readers."
