Morcillo, one of UD Almería's key winter market signings, was featured on Onda Vasca, where he shared his thoughts on the current season and future expectations. Despite a recent dip in form, fans at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos remain confident in his talent and ability to be decisive in the final matches of the National League Championship in Segunda División.
“"I believe I have the level to be in the First Division, although I know it's difficult and the competition will be high, but first we have to get promoted with Almería this season."
The left winger of the Almería squad praised the ambitious project led by club president Mohamed Al-Khereiji. According to Morcillo, the club's vision includes stadium renovation and a potential acquisition by Cristiano Ronaldo, a factor that, in his opinion, “helps and adds prestige” to the team. The player hopes the club achieves promotion to the Primera División this season, an objective that would allow him to regain his place in the Catalan coach's tactical setup.
Recalling his previous stint in the top flight, Morcillo admitted that a lack of maturity and experience, coupled with an injury, prevented him from performing at his best. However, he now feels prepared and motivated for this new challenge. “Right now I am enjoying the idea of getting promoted with Almería to the Primera División and finally being able to play in the highest category of national football,” he stated.
The player also highlighted the high standard of the Almería squad, mentioning teammates such as Sergio Arribas, Adrián Embarba, and Nico Melamed, with whom he competes for a starting spot. This strong internal competition, according to Morcillo, reflects the team's quality, which “has nothing to envy many Primera División teams.”
