This Tuesday afternoon, the Cortijo Grande area in Almería witnessed incidents when a man, carrying a stick, began confronting neighbors and passersby on Avenida del Mediterráneo, near Islas Columbretes street. Calls to the 112 Andalucía emergency service alerted authorities to the presence of an individual with a reportedly aggressive attitude, brandishing the object.
The events occurred around 8:00 PM in a busy area. Onlookers described the man's agitated behavior, causing concern. Witnesses and neighborhood cameras captured the individual disturbing flowerbeds in a nearby square and shouting while waving the stick in the air.
Given the possibility of the situation escalating, the coordination center dispatched security forces. A van from the Almería Local Police, with six officers, and National Police units responded swiftly. The Immediate Response Group (GRIP) of the Local Police patrolled the avenue alongside the National Police.
Officers located the individual and proceeded with the necessary actions to restore calm. The police presence drew the attention of pedestrians. After being identified, the man was taken to police facilities.
Once the incident was resolved, police personnel remained in the avenue to ensure normality was fully re-established and to prevent further episodes of tension. Tranquility returned to the busy street after several minutes of concern among those who witnessed the man's behavior.
