The Investigating Court number 1 of Almería has opened proceedings against a 26-year-old man, identified as B.P.C., for the alleged crimes of attempted homicide, assault on authority, and injury. The events took place in the La Chanca neighborhood, where the individual assaulted several National Police officers and attempted to shoot them with the service weapon he had taken from one of the officers.
According to judicial sources, the detainee was placed in provisional, communicated, and no-bail custody after invoking his right to remain silent before the judge. The case will now be sent to the Deanery for assignment to the competent judicial body to continue the investigation.
The incident occurred in the early hours of last Friday to Saturday. Several police patrols were dispatched to the area to locate the individual, who was already wanted for a previous crime of robbery with violence. The situation rapidly escalated, with the arrestee displaying extremely violent behavior.
During the struggle, the young man pushed an officer down a flight of stairs, causing a severe fall and a head injury. He then managed to steal the injured officer's service pistol and pulled the trigger multiple times, although the weapon's safety mechanism prevented any shots from being fired. As a consequence of the attack, two officers required medical assistance.
