What was supposed to be a peaceful journey for Imserso passengers heading to the coast of Almería turned into an unexpected odyssey. The flight, operated by Iberojet, took off from Josep Tarradellas - El Prat Airport with a considerable delay.
Initially scheduled to depart at 8:55 PM and land in Almería at 10:18 PM, the flight accumulated delays to a critical point. The final takeoff from Barcelona did not occur until 11:20 PM, exceeding the closing time for operations at Almería Airport, which is set at 11:00 PM, except for emergency situations.
Given the impossibility of landing at El Alquián airfield, the aircraft had no other option but to be diverted. Finally, the Iberojet plane touched down at Málaga Airport at 12:32 AM.
This diversion meant an additional road transfer of more than two hours for the Imserso travelers, whose final destination was Roquetas de Mar, significantly extending their arrival after the unforeseen airport closure.
