The name García Pimienta is strongly linked to taking over the technical direction of UD Almería, replacing Rubi. The Catalan coach, with a long career in the youth ranks of Fútbol Club Barcelona, has a history of encounters with the Almería team at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos.
One of these significant visits occurred in the 2017-2018 season when he managed Barça B. In that Segunda División match, the Catalan reserve team featured a generation of talent including players like Jorge Cuenca, Aleñá, Carles Pérez, Abel Ruiz, Marc Cardona, and a young Cucurella, who was already showing glimpses of his potential.
The match, played approximately eight years ago, concluded with a 1-0 victory for UD Almería, then coached by the Almería-born Fran Fernández. The decisive goal was scored by Hicham, in front of 10,422 spectators.
