The start of summer is celebrated in the province of Almería with fifteen municipalities having local holidays during June. Notably, June 24th, the day of San Juan, will be a holiday in six towns, including the capital. The Moors and Christians festivals in Mojácar and Carboneras, as well as the celebration of San Isidro Labrador in El Ejido at the end of the month, mark the festive calendar.
June 10th is a holiday in Vera, coinciding with its Patron Saint Festivals in honor of the Santísima Virgen de las Angustias. Subsequently, on June 12th, three towns will enjoy a three-day weekend: Alcóntar, Mojácar, and Partaloa. While Alcóntar and Partaloa celebrate San Antonio de Padua, Mojácar commemorates its Moors and Christians Festivals from June 11th to 14th.
Bayarque also celebrates San Antonio with a holiday on June 13th. In Carboneras, the Moors and Christians Festivals in honor of San Antonio de Padua extend with holidays on June 12th and 13th. Meanwhile, Vícar will have its local holiday on Monday, June 22nd, also allowing for a long weekend.
June 24th, San Juan's Day, is a significant date for coastal towns and will be a holiday in Almería capital, Benitagla, Benizalón, Castro de Filabres, Huércal de Almería, and Terque, with celebrations often taking place on the beaches. Finally, June 29th, a holiday in El Ejido and La Mojonera for San Isidro Labrador and San Pedro respectively, will provide another three-day weekend.
