Five years after his last visit, King Felipe VI will return to the province of Almería to reaffirm his commitment to the Legion. The primary objective of this visit is to gain firsthand knowledge of the advancements made in recent years through Project Force 35, a program laying the groundwork for the future Spanish army.

Government sources have confirmed that the royal visit will allow the monarch to observe the evolution of a modern and cohesive legionary force. This brigade is preparing for multi-domain and collaborative combat, integrating disruptive technologies such as drone usage and quantum and electronic warfare systems, aiming to keep the Legion at the forefront of the Spanish Army.

During his stay, it is highly probable that the most prominent technologies being developed by the Spanish military industry within the framework of Force 35 will be showcased. The Experimental Brigade 2035, based in Almería, not only tests new weapons, helmets, and combat vehicles like the VCR 8x8 (Dragon) but also serves as a demanding testing ground for robotics and artificial intelligence.

King Felipe VI will preside over an exercise by the legionaries at the Álvarez de Sotomayor maneuver and firing range, as he did in May 2021 during the Tex III/21 training, when the Experimental Brigade was taking its first steps in Almería. The detailed agenda for the visit will be announced soon.
