The Edgar Neville Auditorium in Málaga hosted the II Andalusian Tennis Gala, an event organized by the Andalusian Tennis Federation and sponsored by JCastillo Seguros. The ceremony brought together nearly 400 attendees, including players, coaches, club representatives, families, and institutions such as the Junta de Andalucía, the Málaga City Council, and the Provincial Council of Málaga, as well as private companies like Alcral AG and Dunlop.
During the gala, over 180 recognitions were presented to athletes and entities for their achievements in 2025, both nationally and internationally. The event highlighted the remarkable growth of Andalusian tennis in all its modalities, including tennis, wheelchair tennis, beach tennis, and pickleball.
The strength of a united project, with an involved board and a School that strives every day to improve.
Club Tenis Adra experienced a memorable night, being recognized as a “Club and School of Excellence 2025” with the Gold Distinction. This award underscores the quality of its training, the constant effort of its school, and its dedication to developing grassroots tennis in Andalucía. The president of the Andalusian Tennis Federation, Alberto Rodríguez Cervantes, emphasized that this recognition represents a firm commitment to the future of Andalusian tennis, creating new opportunities for players from Almería.
Among those attending the award ceremony was Antonio Ramón Vargas Barranco, technical director of Club de Tenis Adra for seventeen years and a referee with over twelve years of experience, having participated in events such as the Spanish Absolute Championship and the Mutua Madrid Open. The club expressed its gratitude to the entire school, coaches, players, families, and members for their continuous commitment and support.
The gala also paid tribute to Andalusian champions in various categories and outstanding clubs in team competitions. Professional circuit figures such as Alejandro Davidovich, Roberto Carballés, Pablo Llamas, Javi Barranco, Nuria Párrizas, and Eva Guerrero were recognized. A moving moment was the screening of a video about Spain's historic comeback against Denmark in the Davis Cup, known as the “Miracle of Marbella”.
Furthermore, Andalusian talent on the international stage was highlighted, mentioning figures such as sisters Noemí and Nayra Ramírez, part of the staff for tournaments like Wimbledon and the US Open; Carlos Gómez Herrera, a member of Novak Djokovic's team; and Riki Ojeda, coach of Chinese player Bu Yunchaokete and recognized as the youngest ATP coach in the world. The Junta de Andalucía, through its General Directorate of Sports Systems and Values, was also acknowledged for initiatives such as the Framework Protocol for Action in Situations of Violence in Sport.
