The Arms and Explosives Intervention Unit of the Almería Command carried out the supervision of practical tests required to obtain Type F weapon licenses, intended for sport shooting. This essential work, aimed at ensuring legality and safety in weapon use, took place throughout 2025.
During the past year, the unit attended a total of five practical examination calls. These tests were conducted at the Centro Juegos del Mediterráneo shooting range facilities, located in the municipality of Gádor. Over these sessions, 367 applicants were evaluated, needing to meet the precision requirements established by current regulations for each shooting modality.
Regulations impose strict minimums for aptitude. In the short weapon category, shooters must achieve 50 points in 10 shots at a distance of 25 meters. For the use of long-barreled rifled weapons in sport shooting, 50 points are also required in 10 shots, but at a distance of 50 meters.
The presence of Civil Guard agents is crucial to ensure that shooting sessions are conducted at the regulated distance and that scores recorded by federative technicians accurately match the results obtained on the target. Intervening officers observe and supervise the process without interfering with the work of the federative technicians.
This control function is framed within the guidelines of Royal Decree 137/1993, which approves the Weapons Regulation, and Circular of the Directorate General of the Civil Guard number 4/1996. The institution reminds those interested in these licenses that they can obtain more information via telephone 062, the official website, or the Alertcops application.
