The exhibition, which can be visited in the Sala Jayrán until May 8, features 27 works offering diverse perspectives on the architectural, neighborhood, and public space changes Almería has undergone.
During the inauguration, the Councilor for Tourism, Communications and City Promotion, Joaquín Pérez de la Blanca, highlighted the artistic value of the works and their ability to showcase Almería's transformation without losing its essence. He was accompanied by Marina Rodríguez, president of Colectivo Desencuadre.
“"‘Almeránea’ is an exhibition of contemporary urban photography that highlights the transformation Almería is experiencing, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to contemplate works of great artistic quality."
Rodríguez thanked the City Council for the opportunity to exhibit and explained that the show addresses the coexistence between the city's past and present, exemplified by the remodeling of the Paseo, Plaza Vieja, and Puerto-Ciudad. She announced that this is the first part of the exhibition, with a second series to be available in June.
'Almeránea' offers a glimpse into the contemporary urban reality of Almería, a city rapidly growing towards modernity, moving away from cultural clichés, and successfully integrating historical elements like the Alcazaba and the Port with new developments and shopping centers, without forgetting landmarks such as La Chanca or Cabo de Gata.
The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday in the mornings (from 10:30 to 13:30) and from Tuesday to Saturday in the afternoons (from 17:00 to 20:00).
