The activity, scheduled for Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CEIP San Indalecio in La Cañada, was suspended by the San Urbano Parents' Association (AMPA). Controversy arose because the party was an exclusive event for associated families, sparking a debate within the educational community.
Through social media, the AMPA announced the suspension, lamenting the "climate of tension inappropriate for an educational community, with insults, disqualifications, and messages announcing the intention to attend the event to disrupt its normal development or cause conflicts." The organization stated that the activity met all requirements and had the necessary authorizations.
“"Given this situation, and considering that the AMPA's absolute priority is to guarantee the safety, tranquility, and coexistence of families and students, we have decided to suspend the activity."
The exclusivity of the party, which required a 15 euro fee to join the AMPA, was the central point of contention. Some mothers expressed in comments that "the issue is not whether the activity should take place, but whether it is fair that some children are excluded due to an indirect economic condition." It was argued that public educational centers should be based on equality, coexistence, and inclusion.
The AMPA, for its part, expressed gratitude for the support received from "many families, both members and non-members," and defended the transparency of its work, inviting direct consultation with the association for any doubts. They concluded their statement by calling for involvement and collaboration to build a better educational community, where non-constructive messages have no place.
