The educational institution, located in the Pescadería neighborhood, reaffirms its commitment to solidarity through this annual initiative. The collection will take place at the school's facilities starting at 5:00 PM, in collaboration with the Regional Blood Transfusion Center.
This event, held since 2024, aims to surpass last year's donation record, when nearly one hundred donations were achieved. Mauricio Rodríguez, the activity coordinator, highlighted the previous success: “In the first year, we were congratulated by the transfusion center because they had never run out of material at a school before. They had to come back for more. This year, the team will bring a plasmapheresis machine, to be able to donate plasma in addition to blood.”
They will learn that their effort can have a direct impact on saving lives.
The organization of the drive is part of the Service-Learning (APS) methodology, involving students from Infant Education to Vocational Training. This approach seeks for students to take an active role in their development, understanding the direct impact of their actions on society. For the youngest, the activity focuses on teaching them to face new situations without fear, presenting donation as a natural and necessary act.
The Amor de Dios School stands out for its commitment to active learning, as demonstrated by its scientific projects awarded at the Almería Science Fair and its participation in the European Researchers' Night. The institution sees itself as a hub in the Pescadería neighborhood, strengthening ties with families and neighbors.
The initiative not only promotes solidarity but also turns the school into a meeting point for the community. While older students manage logistics with the Regional Blood Transfusion Center (CRTS), those in Primary and Secondary design awareness campaigns and recruit donors in the local area. Even former students return to the center to contribute, demonstrating the deep roots and commitment the activity generates in Almería.
