“"It was very exciting in 2016 because it was the first time, but on this occasion, in addition to giving a talk at the legendary Adelphi Hotel, I will speak at 'Strawberry Field', the place Lennon remembered from Almería, and that's why it's very special."

The province of Almería is set to emphasize its unique connection with John Lennon at the International Beatlesweek in Liverpool, the world's largest festival dedicated to The Beatles, held every August. The Andalusian representation will be led by J. Adolfo Iglesias, an expert on the musician, and young talent John Juárez.
J. Adolfo Iglesias, known for spearheading the 'Lennon Almería Forever' fan movement since 1999, has been instrumental in promoting Lennon's history in the city and province. This marks his second participation in the global 'Beatlemania' event, which he considers his most significant.
Strawberry Field, a vocational training center for young people run by 'The Salvation Army', was a childhood and adolescent playground for John Lennon. This memory inspired one of his most iconic songs during his stay in Almería. Iglesias highlights the deep connection between Almería and Liverpool, and between the Casa del Cine and Strawberry Field, noting that Lennon recalled this place upon moving from what is now the Delfín Verde on October 9, 1966, his 26th birthday.
Accompanying Iglesias will be John Juárez, a promising young musician from Roquetas, only 16 years old. A lifelong fan of The Beatles, Juárez has participated in concerts organized by the 'LennonAlmeríaForever' association. Last October, he had the honor of performing the inaugural recital next to the John Lennon statue in Plaza Flores.
Almería's presence in Liverpool also aims to resume a relationship put on hold by the pandemic. A representative from Strawberry Field is expected to visit Almería next October to celebrate the 60th anniversary of this unique story, which links the Andalusian land to the composition of one of pop-rock's fundamental songs by a music and culture legend.
