The province of Almería continues to establish itself as a key destination for rural tourism, with a growing number of municipalities opting for proposals that combine nature, tranquility, and the recovery of beautiful spaces. A prominent example of this trend is the rural accommodation complex in the Sierra de la Murta, in Arboleas, which is nearing its inauguration after years of work.
This complex is built upon structures that were left unfinished in the 1990s, and are now being transformed into a set of six rural houses and a restaurant. To date, two of these homes have already been completed thanks to the Stable Employment Promotion Plan. The next step includes finishing the third house and advancing with the restaurant's construction.
“"We had planned to finish the third house, which come in blocks of three, and finish the restaurant to make a concession."
The decision not to open the houses individually is a management and security strategy. According to the mayor, phased opening aims to prevent vandalism and ensure proper monitoring of the complex. Although the Town Hall has installed surveillance cameras, the goal is for a professional manager to handle daily maintenance to ensure the project's viability and control of the surroundings.
The project is not limited to construction but also includes improvements to the environment and access roads. Recently, two key actions have been carried out: the felling of centenary pines and the removal of dry branches with the support of the Provincial Council of Almería, and the paving of the access ramp to the sierra with the collaboration of the Junta de Andalucía. Technically, only the installation of the septic tank and water supply remain for the houses to be fully operational. The Consistory has reapplied for the Stable Employment Plan, with the expectation of completing the third house before April of next year.
