The event, held at the Cabo de Gata-Ciudad de Almería Exhibition and Congress Palace, allowed young people to express their concerns and propose innovative solutions for the capital's transformation towards a more inclusive model. The mayor of Almería visited the event, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement.
During the morning, participants organized into working groups to synthesize their ideas, which they then presented in a mock Youth Plenary Session under the theme 'My ideal neighborhood: more places to play, live together, and care for each other'. Associations such as AFIM 21, Ítaca, Scouts, and Cruz Roja collaborated in the activities.
“"From the Almería City Council, we are very clear that our young people are not the future, but the present."
The day combined active participation with leisure, including a giant paella, game zones, virtual reality to explore the city's museums, and sustainability workshops. Additionally, the zoosanitary center set up an informational stand to promote animal adoption among the families of the participating young people.
The mayor thanked the young people, mostly between 12 and 16 years old, for their involvement, stressing that their talent is fundamental for building a more modern and active Almería. The City Council aims to build bridges for this segment of the population to collaborate directly in the capital's transformation.
The governing team believes that a modern city cannot be understood without the creative solutions provided by youth, who are key to improving the social reality of their neighborhoods. The forum concluded by reinforcing the role of youth organizations as valid interlocutors with the administration, positioning Almería as a city that listens to its youngest citizens.
