The province of Almería inaugurated this Monday its first direct air connection with Poland, with flights from Warsaw and Katowice operated by TUI, which will run until October.
The launch of these routes, which directly link the province with the Polish market for the first time, was marked by an institutional welcome event at Almería Airport. The first 325 passengers received promotional gifts from the 'Costa de Almería' tourist brand, including maps and materials about Almería's cinematic heritage.
The event was attended by authorities such as the Deputy of Tourism, María José Herrada; the territorial delegate for Tourism, Juan José Alonso; and the councilors for Tourism of Almería and Roquetas, Joaquín Pérez de la Blanca and Amalia López Yelamos. The administrations expressed their optimism regarding the excellent occupancy rate of the flights.
The operation will consist of weekly charter flights until October 5, 2026, connecting Almería with key cities like Warsaw and Katowice. An estimated 300 to 400 passengers per week are expected, potentially bringing a total of 6,000 to 8,000 Polish tourists during the summer, a demographic known for its long stays and significant economic impact.

"For us, this is a day of celebration, because the most important thing is that we are connecting with the Polish market. This is the first time it has happened, and having these two flights coming from these two cities, specifically Warsaw and Katowice, is an achievement for the province of Almería."
María José Herrada emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration in expanding international connections and highlighted the facilities provided by Almería Airport for joint work.

"From the Junta de Andalucía, we feel tremendously proud and want to congratulate ourselves because we are launching a new airline route with a market that we had not previously worked from the province of Almería, namely the Polish market."
Juan José Alonso stressed the strategic importance of opening Almería to a previously untapped tourist market and expressed confidence that the route 'is here to stay'. The tour operator TUI will provide 21,000 air seats for the province this year, with an estimated economic impact of 20 million euros.
The director of Almería Airport, Ignacio Tejero, expressed his satisfaction with the new connection, which strengthens the province's connectivity with Poland and Eastern Europe, contributing to tourism and economic growth. The airport will offer 25 destinations this summer, eight of them exclusive to tour operators, and expects to surpass pre-pandemic figures, with a 30% increase in passengers in April.
Furthermore, other strategic connections are being reinforced, such as the daily route to Barcelona with Vueling, which enhances Almería's European connectivity. Operations with Jet2 and EasyJet to destinations like Liverpool, Bristol, and London-Gatwick are also continuing.
A group of Polish travel agents and tourism influencers are participating in a familiarization trip to experience the province's attractions firsthand, enabling them to effectively market the destination in Poland.
