Last Saturday, the Cervantes Theater in Almería hosted the debut of Fascinadas, an innovative event that merges neuroscience with entertainment. The city's mayor, María del Mar Vázquez, was a prominent figure, taking part in the recording of the podcast Lo que diga la Jefa (What the Boss Says).

During her participation, Vázquez discussed aspects of her personal life, the importance of mental health, and emotional management. The event drew over 500 attendees, including councilwomen Amalia Martín and Paola Laynez, who enjoyed a program designed to offer tools for mental well-being.
The show featured experts such as Antonio Valenzuela, a psychoneuroimmunologist and physiotherapist, and psychologist Lorena Gascón, known for her online psychological insights. Healthcare professionals including doctors Antonio Ríos Luna, Curro Huete, and Almudena Ruiz also contributed, exploring the benefits of exercise, nervous system regulation through movement, and connecting with gratitude.
Other specialists like midwife Sofía Ureña, nutritionist Ana Molina, physical educator Rubén Ortega, and linguist Alina Muñoz, shared their knowledge on healthier living. Humor was provided by journalist Alfredo Casas and the improvisation theater company Impro ¿Qué?, who delivered comedic moments.
Ana Galera, founder and director of Fascinadas, emphasized the need to improve internal dialogue, referring to it as communicating with the 'boss' or one's mind, to strengthen self-relationship and regulate emotions. The show aims to offer a preventive approach to psychology and neuroscience, using humor as a vehicle for dissemination.
This project, organized by the consulting firm Ágatar, was made possible with the support of the Almería City Council, Fundación La Caixa, Asociación Verdiblanca, Cosentino, MAGO modern living, Campos de Uleila EmeBé, OWA, and Asociación Neurodem. Following its successful premiere in Almería, Fascinadas will soon announce new dates in other cities.
