The Brotherhood of the Virgen del Mar in Almería has announced the cancellation of the extraordinary procession scheduled for Sunday, April 12, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the canonical coronation, due to uncertain weather conditions.
The decision to suspend the processional outing of Almería's patron saint was made to protect the valuable carving, declared a Cultural Interest Asset, in light of rain forecasts. Originally, the image was to be transferred to the Plaza Vieja for a mass and subsequent procession.
In lieu of the procession, a commemorative mass will be held at 10 AM at the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Mar. This event will be broadcast by Canal Sur Televisión, allowing devotees to follow the celebration from home.
After the mass, the sanctuary will remain open throughout the morning for devotees to venerate the Patroness of Almería. To conclude the day's events, a concert will be offered at 12 PM by the Cruz Roja de Sevilla Music Band.
The Brotherhood has expressed gratitude for the fervent support received and has requested understanding for the changes, encouraging everyone to participate devoutly in this significant day for the city.
