The province of Almería is facing the most suffocating days of the current heatwave. Meteorological forecasts indicate that the situation will worsen before the weekend, with Aemet activating a red alert for extreme temperatures that will reach their critical point in inland areas.
For this Thursday, most of the province is under a yellow alert. However, the regions of Valle del Almanzora, Los Vélez, Nacimiento, and Campo de Tabernas are on orange alert, recording values reaching 43 ºC during the central hours of the day.
The forecast for this Friday worsens substantially. Aemet will activate the red alert, the maximum risk level, in the Valle del Almanzora and Los Vélez regions, where maximum temperatures will exceed 44 ºC and could punctually reach 46 degrees.
On that same Friday, the Levante Almeriense, Nacimiento, and Campo de Tabernas will be under orange alert for highs of up to 40 ºC. The Poniente Almeriense and the capital will experience maximums around 38 ºC, triggering a yellow alert.
All alerts will be active from one in the afternoon until nine at night. Given this situation of extreme heat, considered "extraordinary danger" for red alerts, health authorities and emergency services advise extreme caution: avoid direct sun exposure during central hours, maintain constant hydration, and pay special attention to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic conditions.
