The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the orange alert in the regions of Los Vélez and Valle del Almanzora due to temperatures that could reach 40°C. In the Levante Almeriense, the alert is for maximums of up to 39°C. These alerts will be in effect until 9:00 PM.
As a preventive measure, the Andalusian Health Service has sent messages to the phones of at-risk individuals in these areas, informing them about the extreme heat alert and offering recommendations. These include advice to drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, protect themselves from the sun, and refrain from physical exertion during the hottest hours.
Already during the first half of the day, temperatures above 40 degrees have been recorded in some areas of the Valle del Almanzora. According to data from the Meteorological Association of the Southeast (Ametse), localities such as Fines (40.7°C), Albox (40.2°C), Olula del Río (40.2°C), Cantoria (40°C), and Macael (40°C) have surpassed this mark.
For Thursday, an improvement is expected regarding the intense heat, although Aemet has activated a yellow alert for electrical storms in Almanzora and Los Vélez, which will be active between 12:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
Looking ahead to the weekend, no alerts are forecast for the province of Almería. Temperatures are expected to drop considerably, with maximums of around 34 degrees on Friday and Saturday in Almanzora, and approximately 35°C on Sunday. In other inland areas, maximums will be around similar figures, while on the coast they will remain milder, between 29 and 32 degrees, depending on the specific zone.
