One month after the initial tremors affected Granada, the municipality of Las Gabias has authorized the return to 123 homes. Of the 371 families who had to leave their residences due to severe foundation damage, only 42 are still displaced.
The neighborhood is gradually returning to normal, although construction bins and sealed garages are still visible. The authorization to return home is based on technical reports guaranteeing the safety of the dwellings, which suffered damage to pillars and garages.
Definitive repair work to secure the structures will be undertaken later. Since August 18th, 30 workers have operated in shifts to expedite the families' return. The remaining 42 families belong to the most affected building on Calle San Francisco, block 3.
