The Maracena Flamenco Festival, one of the town's most established cultural events, will celebrate its twenty-fifth edition on August 7th. The event will take place at the Carlos Cano Amphitheater at 10:00 PM and will be presented by dancer Mari Paz Lucena.
This year's lineup is headlined by renowned flamenco figures. Notably, acclaimed singer Mayte Martín, recognized for her career and a Latin Grammy nomination, will perform. She will share the stage with singer Alfredo Tejada, winner of the prestigious Lámpara Minera award in 2017.
Flamenco guitar will be represented by Granada-based guitarists Antonio de la Luz and José Fernández 'Hijo', alongside Jerez musician José Gálvez. The singing will be further enriched by the voices of José Fernández and Antonio Heredia.
Dance will be showcased by Paco de Andrea, an exponent of 'baile jondo' trained in Granada's tablaos, and the festival will conclude with Marina Heredia 'La Negra', a rising star in contemporary flamenco dance.
The Councilor for Culture, Antonio Segovia, emphasized the importance of sustaining the festival for 25 years, highlighting Maracena's commitment to culture and the flamenco identity of Granada and Andalucía. He stated that the program combines established artists with local talents, aiming to offer a balanced celebration of singing, guitar, and dance for all audiences.
Segovia also acknowledged the contribution of the Peña Solera y Caña throughout these 25 editions, underscoring the close collaboration between the City Council and the flamenco club in establishing the festival as a key event in the province's summer cultural agenda.
