The metropolitan municipality of Las Gabias has designed a summer agenda full of proposals for all ages, aiming to boost social, cultural, and sporting life from June to September. The program, promoted by the City Council, includes more than 50 activities spread across various thematic blocks.
Gabias' summer will feature over 15 sports and active leisure activities, such as tournaments, hiking, running, swimming, and beach volleyball. The cultural and entertainment offerings will comprise more than 10 proposals, while around fifteen trips, excursions, and beach days will be organized, particularly for young people and seniors. Additionally, children's and family activities, equality initiatives, and a free summer cinema in several urban areas are planned.
Unique activities include Los Juegos del Verano (Summer Games), a sporting highlight within the framework of the European Town of Sport 2026 designation. Urban and youth culture will also be promoted with events like Guerreras K-POP: El Musical, alongside the traditional weekly free beach days.
“"This summer program reflects very well how we understand municipal action: listening, coordinating areas, and taking into account the groups, associations, clubs, entities, and people who work every day with the City Council to make Las Gabias a vibrant, active, and dynamic city. We wanted to design a summer that reaches all ages, all interests, and all corners of the municipality."
Mayor Meri Sádaba emphasized the transversal nature of the program, designed to "continue building the city through participation, diversity, and joint work between the City Council and the social fabric." For his part, the councilor delegate for Presidency, Personnel, Youth, and Development, Mariano Delgado, highlighted that the agenda aligns with the governing team's vision for the city, "valuing the enormous work carried out throughout the year by municipal departments, associations, clubs, groups, and local entities".
The Veladas del Torreón (Tower Evenings), held on weekend evenings in June, will showcase cultural heritage with flamenco performances in the Arab tower's inner courtyard. The sports program is further enhanced by being the European Town of Sport 2026, featuring the healthy leisure program at the Periurban Park with yoga, pilates, functional training, aerodance, tai-chi, and the new 'Las Gabias Runners' night running community. The FuturoLAB summer camp will also be offered to support family work-life balance.
