The fire broke out around 5:35 PM in facilities located on the GR3417 road, connecting Maracena and Albolote. The smoke column was visible from several points in the area.
Granada Firefighters were alerted and responded with several tanker vehicles, along with personnel from the Civil Guard and Civil Protection of Albolote. Two tanker vehicles from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Granada, from the Iznalloz and Guadix stations, were also requested.
Infoca Plan personnel and local police from both municipalities also collaborated in the firefighting efforts. The Albolote Group provided drinking water for the firefighters due to the intense heat emitted by the fire.
As a safety measure, the Granada Metro suspended its service to Maracena.
