The 'More books, more freedom' project, initiated by children from Alhendín's CLIA, has received the 'Vida en Acción' Award. This award, promoted by the Granada Provincial Council through its Social Welfare and Family department, recognizes good practices with positive social impact. The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 7, at the Caja Rural Auditorium in Granada.
The initiative began with the idea of facilitating access to reading through a book exchange, promoting values such as caring for the books, returning them on time, and leaving reviews for future readers. Over time, the project has evolved to include an intergenerational dimension, where young volunteers bring reading to the homes of the elderly or sick, adding solidarity and community spirit.
The jury specifically acknowledged the promotion of access to knowledge, the care for common goods, and the socialization fostered by this initiative. This award also celebrates the creativity of children and the involvement of everyone who has contributed to the growth of 'More books, more freedom,' reaffirming Alhendín's commitment to giving a voice to children and turning their proposals into improvements for the community.
