The fire, which started in an industrial warehouse approximately 100 meters long by 50 meters wide, was declared extinguished early this morning. The last firefighting unit concluded its intervention at 8:00 AM. Moving forward, the Consortium will monitor the warehouse every four hours to ensure no reignition occurs.
Antonio Martín, president of the Provincial Consortium and delegate for Civil Protection, emphasized the crucial role of the provincial entity's personnel. "The actions of the provincial entity's staff were vital in tackling this fire," he stated. From the outset, 16 firefighters from various provincial stations were deployed to the scene.
The technical deployment on the ground included five water tanker trucks, a ladder truck, and a light fire engine (BUL). Aerial resources from Infoca were also mobilized for direct water drops to reduce the fire's intensity. The Palma del Río City Council provided a water bowser to assist in the extinguishing efforts.
Firefighters initially focused on containing the perimeter and suppressing the flames. Once the fire's intensity was reduced, two excavators were used from the rear and a side of the warehouse to extract, agitate, and progressively extinguish the accumulated textiles. As a preventive measure, and in collaboration with the City Council, Local Police, and Civil Protection, residents were advised to remain in their homes.
