The initiative, part of the School of Active Citizenship, seeks to bring citizens closer to the significance of their involvement in their municipalities. The delegate for Equality, Citizen Cooperation, Consumption, and Citizen Participation, Auxiliadora Moreno, explained that tools are being provided to associations, town councils, and local entities to foster this participation through informative, outreach, awareness-raising, training, dialogue, and debate activities.
The campaign's central focus is a stage performance blending circus, dance, theater, and music. This show addresses social conflicts and everyday situations from a critical and humorous perspective, according to Moreno. The aim is to convey the importance of citizen participation and the responsibility it entails for improving towns and the well-being of their inhabitants, encouraging critical observation and self-awareness.
Moreno highlighted the positive reception of the initiative in the province's municipalities. Between 2022 and 2025, it has been held in 36 locations, attracting approximately 1,000 attendees in performances such as those in Fuente Palmera, Almedinilla, Villanueva del Rey, Pedroche, Iznájar, and Baena.
This year, smaller municipalities have been given the opportunity to attend performances in nearby towns via a free bus service. This includes Valsequillo, which will travel to Fuente Obejuna on July 5th, and Fuente la Lancha, which will attend Belmez on September 19th.
The performances, by María Hames and her companions Yumi and Pablo, will take place at 9:30 PM in Fuente Obejuna (July 5), Valenzuela (July 8), Monturque (July 9), and Bujalance (July 12). In September, they will be held in Villaharta (September 18) and Belmez (September 19), at 9:00 PM.
The area's head invited the general public and associations from these and nearby municipalities to attend the free, open-air performances held in public spaces designated by the town councils.
