The Alhaurín de la Torre City Council has expressed its firm support, solidarity, and closeness to the Autonomous City of Ceuta, its institutions, and citizens, reaffirming its commitment to defending its security, coexistence, rights, and freedoms. The approved motion declares that Ceuta and Melilla constitute an inseparable part of Spain and its territorial integrity, rejecting any action that seeks to question national sovereignty.
The proposal, presented by the PP municipal group and supported by Vox (with abstentions from PSOE and Con Andalucía), urges the Spanish Government to deploy and maintain all necessary resources in Ceuta, including extraordinary ones, until full recovery of normality and public order is guaranteed. It also calls for the identification of those who irregularly entered Spanish territory and their return to Morocco, applying legal procedures and bilateral and European cooperation mechanisms.
The agreement urges the Government to fully exercise its powers in border control, immigration, security, and international relations, avoiding the transfer of state responsibilities to the Autonomous City. Morocco is urged to fulfill its cooperation commitments and permanently reinforce the protection and surveillance of the borders of Ceuta and Melilla.
The motion includes recognition and gratitude to the State Security Forces and Corps, Armed Forces, Local Police, emergency services, and public employees for their work in Ceuta and Melilla. It expresses sorrow for the loss of human lives and the experienced drama, especially concerning minors and vulnerable individuals.
Finally, the Spanish Government is urged to promote the establishment of a permanent and stable presence of Frontex in Ceuta and Melilla before the European Union. The agreements will be forwarded to various state authorities and the Presidency of the Autonomous City of Ceuta.
