The Ayuntamiento de Alhaurín el Grande has announced that the Provincial Council of Malaga will approve a direct subsidy of approximately 1,400,000 euros in the plenary session scheduled for September 23rd. These funds will be allocated to the first phase of improvement works on the pending final section of the Villa del Guadalhorce road.
The transfer will be submitted for approval by the Plenary of the Provincial Council of Malaga. The municipal government team will attend the session to highlight the strategic importance of this agreement for the municipality, and especially for the residents of Villa del Guadalhorce.
The first phase of the project includes the improvement of a section of approximately three kilometers, between the roundabout on the Cártama to Coín road and the population center of Villa del Guadalhorce. The approximate investment for this phase is 1.4 million euros.
This funding will allow for the execution of the section between the Cártama-Coín road roundabout and the vicinity of the Pie Gallina path, up to approximately kilometer point 2+800, corresponding to the first of the two phases requested by the Council.
The mayor of Alhaurín el Grande highlighted the importance of this action for the municipality's communications and thanked the provincial institution for fulfilling its commitment. "A fundamental infrastructure for communication between the center of Alhaurín el Grande and Villa del Guadalhorce, and which will also allow our municipality to be better connected with the rest of the Valle and with Málaga capital," he stated.
The City Council will continue working with the Provincial Council of Malaga to complete the project and address the second section of the road to the district, thereby reinforcing the municipality's road connections.
The Councilor for Public Works explained that the Provincial Council of Malaga initiated the administrative procedures in July to grant funding for this first phase, which will involve an investment of 1,400,000 euros to intervene in about three kilometers of the road.
The subsidy is expected to be approved at the plenary session on September 23rd and transferred before the end of the year. The Public Works department is already preparing the tender to expedite deadlines once the funding is approved.
The councilor for Villa del Guadalhorce particularly valued the announcement as very important news for the residents, who for years have demanded the improvement of this road, which has suffered from "neglect" for a long time.
The planned action is a first step towards improving communications, and the City Council is in talks with the Junta de Andalucía to promote the connection of this road with the A-355 highway, aiming to enhance the municipality's accessibility.
