The new patrol car, a state-of-the-art hybrid vehicle, has been added to the fleet of the Local Police in Alhaurín el Grande. This acquisition is part of the modernization process of the force's material resources, aiming to improve officers' response capacity and citizen service.
Among the vehicle's main innovations is the inclusion of a defibrillator, enabling officers to act as first responders in case of cardiac arrest while medical services arrive. "In the event of cardiac arrest, when we arrive at the scene as first responders, we will be able to use the defibrillator and, while awaiting medical and health services, provide immediate care," explained the head of the Local Police, Pablo Rengel.
Additionally, the car is equipped with a tablet providing direct, real-time access to the systems of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT). This will allow officers to check documentation, insurance, ITV (vehicle inspection), or driving licenses, among other data, during controls or interventions. Rengel highlighted that this technology represents a significant advancement, as "until today, we depended on other agencies for checks during a control or accident."
The mayor, Anthony Bermúdez, emphasized the importance of this incorporation, recalling that approximately 12 years had passed since a new vehicle was acquired for the Local Police headquarters. "We are celebrating, and it also reflects the effort made in the last three years to modernize the Local Police's equipment," stated Bermúdez, who also mentioned the launch of a drone unit and the incorporation of new IT and technological equipment.
Bermúdez stressed that the renewal of resources aims to adapt the Local Police to the demands of modern society, with the goal of "providing better service to citizens." This renewal complements the reinforcement of the police force initiated in 2023, with the upcoming addition of three new officers and plans for new competitive examinations to reach a staff of 30 officers.
Currently, the Local Police has five patrol cars and two motorcycles, one of which is assigned to the canine unit. Pablo Rengel added that the incorporation of new resources allows for continued progress in the force's modernization, with the municipal commitment to further improve available material resources.
