The Alhaurín el Grande City Council will launch the Smart Sports Routes Project, funded with 62,509 euros from the Ministry and 3,341 euros from the municipality, to create two 12 km circular healthy routes.

The Alhaurín el Grande City Council, through its Economic Development and Tourism departments, will launch the Smart Sports Routes Project. This initiative aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits while simultaneously highlighting the municipality's historical and cultural heritage, natural richness, gastronomy, and tourist and commercial offerings.
The project is supported by a grant of approximately 62,509 euros from the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda, supplemented by a municipal contribution of 3,341 euros. Two circular healthy routes will be created and signposted, connecting sports, natural, heritage, and urban areas within the municipality, fostering a healthy, sustainable, and accessible city model.
The two itineraries, each approximately 12 kilometers long, are designed for both local residents and visitors to engage in physical activity while discovering different parts of the town. Route 1, the "Fuente del Acebuche Route", will start from the Municipal Sports Center and cover areas like La Paca, the Sierra, and the Fuente del Acebuche. Route 2, the "Castillo de La Mota-El Tejar Route", will begin at La Mota, pass through the Tejar ravine, Arquilla del Agua, the historic center, the Fuente de los Doce Caños, and the Antonio Gala House Museum – La Baltasara.
These routes will connect key elements of Alhaurín el Grande's identity, including natural enclaves, heritage sites, and lesser-known urban areas. The goal is to offer a different perspective of the town and enhance its appeal to visitors.
From a tourism and economic standpoint, the aim is to increase the healthy leisure offerings, encouraging visitors to stay longer, patronize local businesses, and strengthen economic development. A specific tourism promotion plan will be implemented to position the municipality within the healthy routes offering in the province of Málaga.
A notable innovation will be the installation of physical and interactive signage, starting in September and scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027. The "Everest Smart Routes" mobile application will also be launched, providing detailed information, allowing users to track kilometers and calories burned, and offering multi-language audio guides.
The project aligns with the municipality's Urban Agenda 2030, promoting natural and cultural richness, quality of life, a people-centered model, and economic development, thereby consolidating Alhaurín el Grande as a sustainable and modern destination.
