Last Saturday, September 26th, Laja Prieta became a meeting point to enjoy a magnificent Coexistence Day. The event was organized by the Neighborhood Association of Laja Prieta, in collaboration with the Álora City Council.
The day, designed for enjoyment and strengthening neighborly bonds, offered activities for all ages. It included live music with a concert by the group El Querer, free paella for attendees, a bar service at popular prices, a free bouncy castle for the youngest, and the traditional slingshot contest. It was a day of coexistence and fun in a rural setting, forming part of the municipality's identity and history.
The mayor of Álora, Francisco Jesús Martínez Subires, accompanied by the Councilor for Neighborhoods, Carmen Gálvez, and other members of the Municipal Corporation, attended the celebration to share the special day with the residents.
One of the most emotional moments of the day was the tribute to the most veteran members of the Rural Association of Laja Prieta. The current members and the new executive committee of the Association publicly recognized their trajectory and dedication.
A commemorative plaque bearing the names of the founding members of the Association was unveiled, acknowledging their years of selfless work, commitment, and struggle to improve and care for the entire rural area of Laja Prieta. This is a well-deserved recognition to those who, with their effort and dedication, contributed to building and enhancing the Laja Prieta we know today.
