Threatening sky with storm clouds and intense sun over the Andalusian landscape.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated warnings in Andalusia for a day marked by extreme temperatures of up to 39 degrees inland and afternoon storms with hail and strong wind gusts.

Monday in Andalusia presents a complex weather situation, with a clear division between scorching heat in some areas and meteorological instability in others. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued warnings due to forecasts of temperatures reaching 39 degrees Celsius in several locations, particularly in the Guadalquivir valley and the Genil basin, areas that will experience values typical of the most rigorous summer periods. These high temperatures will contrast with afternoon storms that could be severe in the eastern interior.
The morning began with clear skies, but daytime convective cloud development is expected to increase in the mountain ranges of the eastern interior. These areas will be the focus of the day's most intense showers and storms, which could be accompanied by hail and very strong wind gusts. In contrast, the Mediterranean coast will experience intervals of low clouds and morning mists, with the possibility of fog patches.
Today's predicted maximum temperatures place Córdoba at the forefront with 39 degrees, closely followed by Seville and Granada with 38 degrees. Jaén will also reach 38 degrees. Coastal provinces like Huelva and Málaga will experience more moderate highs of 34 degrees, while Cádiz will record the mildest temperature at 28 degrees and Almería will reach 31.
Minimum temperatures will remain high in Almería, Jaén, and Málaga, not dropping below 24 degrees. In the other provincial capitals, minimums will range between 19 degrees in Córdoba or Granada and 22 degrees in Cádiz, offering a slight thermal respite during the early morning before the daytime escalation.
Aemet warns of the need to exercise extreme caution in the mountain areas of the eastern interior due to instability, with showers, electrical storms, hail, and intense wind gusts. Winds will be variable at the start of the day, tending towards a westerly component on the Atlantic slope in the afternoon.
