The Priego City Council has acquired the entirety of the property affected by action AA-03 of the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU). This operation will allow progress in creating a new pedestrian connection between Lozano Sidro and Huerto Almarcha streets.
Mayor Juan Ramón Valdivia announced that the future passage could open in the coming months, once the technical project determining its final characteristics is drafted. Due to the existing height difference between the two roads, the connection will likely be executed via a staircase.
Action AA-03, included in the PGOU, aims to obtain the necessary land to improve pedestrian mobility in the area and contribute to the protection of the urban environment. The expropriation procedure began with an agreement from the municipal plenary on May 29, 2025, followed by the publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of the initial approval of the joint valuation expropriation project.
In April 2026, the plenary approved the file again after correcting various technical discrepancies detected during processing. The agreement now reached with the property owner culminates the acquisition process and moves towards the execution of the planned action.
According to the mayor, the new connection will facilitate communication between two parallel streets in the urban center. However, the planned solution using stairs will not constitute an accessible route for people with reduced mobility.
Valdivia emphasized that this action responds to the municipal commitment to develop the provisions of the General Urban Planning Plan and execute the planned urban improvements for the city.
