The initiative, part of the Municipal Tree Planting Plan, aims to improve the city's environmental quality. On Ronda del Valle, 23 new hackberry trees have been added, joining the 22 planted the previous year, bringing the total to 45 specimens on this avenue. The investment for this phase amounted to 26,015 euros.

Meanwhile, Ronda Sur has received 84 new trees, distributed in two lots costing a total of 35,310 euros. These efforts, carried out over the past two years, have resulted in the addition of 129 trees between both avenues.

These plantings contribute to meeting the objectives of the European Nature Restoration Law. Currently, Lucena boasts an urban tree cover index of 11.25%, surpassing the minimum threshold of 10% set by EU regulations. Urban green spaces now account for 35.98% of the considered surface area.

To continue this progress, the City Council has applied for a subsidy of 249,719 euros from the Junta de Andalucía for future projects. These include expanding urban gardens, completing tree planting along the entire Ronda del Valle, and creating new green spaces in educational centers, thereby reinforcing a more sustainable and resilient city model.
