Andrés Estepa and Esther Requena took victory in the XXII Pantano del Quiebrajano Climb, held this Sunday. The traditional sporting event, which gathered numerous athletics enthusiasts in the Jaén capital, saw Estepa win in the men's category and Requena in the women's.
The race was attended by various local authorities, including the city's mayor, Julio Millán, deputy mayors África Colomo and Luis García Millán, and Sports Councilor Beatriz López. Before the start, a minute of silence was observed in memory of speaker Antonio Araque.
Andrés Estepa, originally from Torredelcampo, completed the course in 48 minutes and 48 seconds, achieving his third consecutive victory in this race. He was involved in a very close finish, crossing the line almost hand-in-hand with Alberto Casas, who secured second place. José Ángel Fernández, known as 'Canales', completed the men's podium.
In the women's competition, Esther Requena claimed victory with a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 34 seconds. She was followed by Eva María León in second place and Carmen Gila in third.
The XXII Pantano del Quiebrajano Climb reaffirmed its status as a prominent event on Jaén's sporting calendar, attracting runners ready to tackle the demanding course.
