As part of its 40th anniversary, Oleoestepa S.C.A., an entity protected by the Estepa Designation of Origin, organized an event featuring the presentation of the book «El viaje del aceite» (The Olive Oil Journey), authored by Antonio García Barbeito. The day served to honor the olive culture and its historical development in the region.
The presentation was introduced by Oleoestepa's president, Jesús Pedro Juárez, who welcomed attendees. Following this, a conference titled «From Industrial Fat to Table Product. The Long Journey of Spanish Olive Groves» was delivered by Juan Francisco Zambrana Pineda, Professor of Economic History at the University of Málaga. Moisés Caballero, secretary of the Estepa Designation of Origin, introduced the speaker, highlighting his extensive career and his connection to the region, specifically hailing from Corcoya.
During his lecture, Juan Francisco Zambrana thoroughly detailed the technical and economic evolution experienced by the olive oil sector in Spain over the years.

After the historical lecture, writer Antonio García Barbeito presented his work «El viaje del aceite», sharing his personal connection to the olive tree and its fruit through an emotional discourse that blended prose and poetry.
To conclude the event, the managing director of Oleoestepa, Álvaro Olavarría, took the floor to express his heartfelt thanks to all the farmers for their continuous labor and dedication. He also made special mention of all parties involved in the creation and editing of the book: the writer Antonio García Barbeito, photographer María Morenés for her visual work, and the publisher Ediciones El Viso.
The book also prominently features the Estepa Designation of Origin, recounting Oleoestepa's 40-year trajectory and emphasizing its role as a guarantor of the quality, origin, and excellence of the extra virgin olive oils from the region.
