The incident has shocked the Sevillian town, where initial hypotheses suggest a possible case of domestic violence resulting in death, followed by suicide. The young woman, a university student, had returned home after finishing her classes.
The mayor of Gerena, María Tenorio, confirmed the suspension of all municipal activities and stated that the Council has made psychological and social assistance services available to the family. "It has been very hard," she declared, extending condolences to the family on behalf of the entire town.
“"We have made ourselves available to the family for whatever they need, both psychologically and socially. It has been very hard."
The alert was received around 3:00 PM, mobilizing patrols from the Seprona and the Civil Guard's Judicial Police. These units have taken charge of the investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of both individuals' deaths.
Sources from the Civil Guard have specified that, at present, the case has been ruled out as being related to episodes of gender-based or vicarious violence, although investigations are ongoing to determine precisely what occurred.
