The new regulation mandates the use of a protective helmet for all riders and sets the minimum age for operating these vehicles at 15 years old. Additionally, reflective clothing is required at night or in low-visibility conditions, with this being a permanent requirement for delivery professionals.
Regarding documentation, users must complete the official DGT registration, which carries a fee of 8.67 euros, and display the identification label on the rear of the vehicle. Furthermore, obtaining civil liability insurance is mandatory, and insurance companies will require the registration number to issue the policy.
The regulations prohibit riding on sidewalks, pedestrian areas, highways, or urban tunnels, restricting use to roads and bike lanes. Restrictions on carrying passengers, using headphones or mobile phones remain in place, and the same alcohol and drug limits as for other drivers apply.
