The Secondary and Baccalaureate Institute El Molinillo in Guillena has welcomed its approximately 750 students from Guillena, Torre de la Reina, and Las Pajanosas for the 2026-27 academic year. After a special introductory schedule, the usual class routine will begin tomorrow, with entry at 8:00 AM and dismissal at 2:30 PM.
The mayor of Guillena, Lorenzo Medina, announced that the Regional Government of Andalusia, through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education (APAE), has submitted the responsible declaration to commence bioclimatization and photovoltaic energy installation works in Phase II of the institute. This project, with an investment exceeding 270,000 euros, aims to end the non-compliance with the Bioclimatization Law and improve the center's thermal conditions.
As explained by Medina, the responsible declaration includes an immediate start to the works with a four-month execution period, hoping that September and October will be the last months of extreme temperatures for students, teachers, and staff at the institute.
This start to the academic year at IES El Molinillo completes the educational activity launch in the municipality. The four nursery schools already opened on September 1st with about 200 students, and on September 10th, the four primary schools in the municipality (Andalucía, Guillena, Virgen del Rosario, and Nuestra Señora del Carmen) welcomed 1,360 students. Tomorrow afternoon, the new academic year will be presented at the Adult Education Center ‘Maestro Celedonio Villa’.
