The town of Bailén in Jaén will host the first edition of the Trail Batalla de Bailén on October 24th, a sporting initiative that seeks to merge physical activity with the promotion of its natural environments, specifically the Dehesa de Burguillos. The event will offer two modalities: a 12-kilometer competitive trail and an equal-distance hiking route, designed for those who prefer to enjoy the scenery without the competitive element.
Registration, costing 15 euros, will include a runner's bag with a commemorative t-shirt and other gifts, as a souvenir of this first edition. The organization's goal is for participants to not only enjoy the sporting experience but also to take away a tangible memory of their visit to the town.
During the presentation, the mayor, Luis Mariano Camacho, highlighted the importance of incorporating new activities into the local sports calendar and leveraging the municipality's natural resources. "We want to offer a different sporting experience that allows us to enjoy our natural surroundings and, at the same time, continue projecting the name of Bailén," he stated, adding that sport is a "magnificent tool to promote our city, foster community, and highlight spaces like the Dehesa de Burguillos."
The mayor encouraged participation from all sporting levels, indicating that the day is designed for both experienced runners and those who simply wish to walk and enjoy the landscape. "The idea is for this first edition to be the start of an event that can consolidate and grow in the coming years," he affirmed.
For his part, the Councilor for Sports and Festivities, Manuel Rodríguez, explained that the event aims to become a new sporting benchmark in Bailén, bringing participants closer to the Dehesa de Burguillos. He emphasized the open nature of the event, focused on promoting healthy lifestyles and revitalizing the town.
The organization is collaborating with local sports entities such as La Trucha, the Club de Atletismo Bailén, and Run for Fun, in addition to the City Council itself. Registrations are now open and can be completed through Deportime or in person at the Casa de la Juventud until October 21st.
